The long wooden house located near Sulkava’s boat harbor is still known as the old pharmacy house, “Apteekintalo”. There are three apartments in the building, of which the one in the middle housed a pharmacy until the end of the 1980s; the pharmacy was founded in 1926. The pharmacist lived in the smaller end apartment. The house was built in two stages. The eastern end was completed in 1908. The western end is younger, apparently from 1939, when the entire building was renovated to its current appearance. The wooden house is a part of a nationally significant built cultural environment, and it has scenic and architectural historical value.
